چکیده

An analog adaptive decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) is described. The DFE cancels intersymbol interference using four feedback taps and a fifth tap cancels DC offset. The coefficient for each tap is adapted using a small mixed-signal integrator. The DFE dissipates 220 mW at a data rate of 150 Mb/s. The active area is 1.8 mm2 in a 1mm CMOS process.

Modeling and Simulation of Substrate Noise in Mixed-Signal Circuits Applied to a Special VCO

The mixed-signal circuits with both analog and digital blocks on a single chip have wide applications in communication and RF circuits. Integrating these two blocks can cause serious problems especially in applications requiring fast digital circuits and high performance analog blocks. Fast switching in digital blocks generates a noise which can be introduced to analog circuits by the common su...

ECE1352F Term Paper Decision Feedback Equalizers and their Application to Magnetic Storage Read Channels

Intersymbol interference (ISI) can be a major speed-limiting factor in high-speed communications links, and must be mitigated to achieve an acceptable bit-error rate (BER). One efficient method of ISI mitigation is channel equalization using a decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) [1]. One system in which DFEs have been implemented extensively to combat severe ISI is the magnetic storage read chann...

Optimum parameters of nonlinear integrator using design of experiments based on Taguchi method

For many physical systems like vehicles, acceleration can be easily measured for the respective states. However, the outputs are usually affected by stochastic noise disturbance. The mentioned systems are often sensitive to noise and structural uncertainties. Furthermore, it is very difficult to estimate the multiple integrals of the signal, acceleration to velocity and velocity to position. In...

Robust Anti-Windup Control Design for PID Controllers–Theory and Experimental Verification

This paper addresses an approximation-based anti-windup (AW) control strategy for suppressing the windup effect caused by actuator saturation nonlinearity in proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controlled systems. The effect of actuator constraint is firstly regarded as a disturbance imported to the PID controller. The external disturbance can then be modeled by a linear differential equatio...
